Issue 13

Football, most similar phenomenon to life

In the winter of 2021, the thirteenth issue of Angah magazine was published, with the subject “Football; As a Battle” and an illustration by Iman Safaei of Adel Ferdosipour. Each issue of Angah focuses on a different subject, and this time it’s football, which it explores and examines from various angles.

You may read articles by Naser Fakouhi, Ali Varamini, Jasem Ghazbanpour, and Fateh Sahba at the beginning of this issue. In an interview with Jahangir Kowsari, Chia Foadi discusses sports on television, Adel Ferdosipour, and the “90” TV show. Other interviews include “There is no justice in football” with Iranian cartoonist Javad Alizadeh, and “Alas! This issue includes articles such as “From this Farhad killer” by Adel Ferdosipour and “The negative film was more significant than us” by Reza Mo’aterian, an Iranian photographer.

In his piece “Perspolis is the master of Esteghlal, Esteghlal is the master of perspolis,” Amir Mohammd Soleymani investigates the trash talk in Tehran Derby. In her article, Banoushe Farhat remembers Ahmadreza Abedzadeh, and towards the end of the issue, Fatemeh Samadi discusses female presence in stadiums.

Hamid Moazeni writes in his article titled “Football is life” : “Football is an international mediator that exists between war and peace and begs to get out of this by the help of culture. As one of Iranian analyzer said, football is the most similar phenomenon to our lives; Human life has the potential to evolve from an innate effort into something spiritual, intellectual, creative, fascinating, and passionate”.

Football has a different meaning to each one of us. To get absorbed into it, watching the matches and being a fan of a team with no expectations, might be the importance of this sport. Football, according to Arash Tanhai, is similar to people who battle to the death for their independence and the prosperity of their country.
