With a lamp in hand, Where Is the Friend’s Home?
The second issue of Angah art and culture magazine was released in the spring of 2017, with the subject “The Center for the Intellectual Development of Children and Adolescents (Kanoon).” The Kanoon Center for the Intellectual Development of Children and Adolescents (Kanoon) was founded in January 1966 under the direction of Farrah Pahlavi and Lili Arjmand.
The Kanoon was founded with the intention of publishing and distributing cultural and artistic products for children and adolescents, a need that was perceived. The kanoon’s name is inextricably linked to Abbas Kiarostami’s. Abbas Kiarostami was a well-known artist who worked extensively with children and adolescents. And the first pages of Angah magazine features a poster for Abbas Kiarostami’s film “Two Solutions for One Problem.”
The second issue of Angah magazine includes articles and interviews of Lili Golestan, Ebrahim Forouzesh, Farshid Mesghali, Ebrahim Haghighi, Mostafa Rahmandoust and Nikzad Nojoumi.
“Kanoon is what few generations have in common”, says Arash Tanhai, in the editorial of this edition. Marjan Charkhchi wrote a summary of the Kanoon’s article in the iranian encyclopedia of Iranica as the first article. Nasser Fakouhi analized the Kanoon in his article “Center for the Intellectual Development and A basic misunderstanding of culture”.
Mohsen Hejri has a different interpretation of “Little Black Fish” by Samad Behrangi in his article “ From Pond to Sea”. Other examples of readable articles in this issue are “A look into the music of Kanoon” “A free Island in an ocean of oppression”, “The sit-in”, “We make history? Or history makes us?” and “Take off your sunglasses”.
